Surf Illumination

Surf Illumination Set for Saturday 12/2/23 at Pier Park

It's our community’s 22nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival and Bazaar. Surf Illumination is and afternoon and evening of FREE family fun including pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus, your favorite holiday tunes played by DJ Dan, kids activities  like balloon twisting, face painting, temporary tattoos and over 20 local vendors selling arts, crafts, clothing and more! Food & Beverages will be available for purchase too! This event is collaboration between The St Augustine Beach Civic Association and The City of St Augustine Beach.

This year we are excited to offer even more fun to our community!  We’ll have Pirates, The Ancient City Sirens Lady Krewe and a Pirate Ship will be on site.  The Art Studio will be open all afternoon and evening displaying and selling locally produced art too.  A new addition to this year’s event will be a free concert presented by Music & Art by the Sea and local musician and studio owner Jim Stafford.  Jim will have several musicians flying in from all over the country to join him in a Jam -Band presentation.  It will feature songs from the Grateful Dead and will take everyone on a magical trip the “hippie holidays of old”.  The concert will take place from 7 until 9 in the Pavilion.

Local musician and Eclipse Recording owner Jim Stafford is playing Santa this year for all of you that are hippies or just love hippies!  Jim is part of a group called the “PITS PLAYERS”, with PITS being an acronym for playing in the sand!  This band salutes aned covers the music of the Grateful Dead.  This includes originals by the Dead and also many of the songs the Dead covered back in the day. The makeup and formation of the band is quite interesting.  We’ll share that on Facebook later on this week.  Just know the PITS PLAYERS will do two sets from 6:30 until 8:30 as a bonus attraction for all of you music lovers!

Vendors who are interested in participating can contact Bob Samuels or Bill Jones at sabcivic@yahoo.com or by calling 904-347-8007.  Follow the event at www.sabca.org or on the Music & Art by the Sea Facebook page.
